Risk and Respect at Summer Camp

"This summer Max learned how to express his ideas and interests more directly. Each summer Max continues to become increasingly self-confident, independent, and sensitive to the needs of others around him."

The Three R's

Windsor Mountain expects you to make important contributions to the camp community; to take RESPONSIBILITY for personal clean–up and community chores, to help plan and follow through with activities, classes and field trips; and to RESPECT individual differences and the preciousness of our environment.

As an Windsor Mountain camper you are expected to take RISKS, to try new things like eating Australian Vegemite, or speaking French with a new camper, playing braambal from Sweden, or trying to make an African drum.

Community Service

Everyone is expected to give, as well as receive, at camp. Opportunities abound for everyone to help, from scraping trays after meals to volunteering in the office or the kitchen, to stacking cordwood, maintaining the garden, or doing an excellent daily clean–up in your living unit.

Other camp service projects reach out to the local community: helping an elderly, disadvantaged or disabled person by doing home repairs, cooking, painting or entertaining. Broader commitments may include volunteering at Rosie's Soup Kitchen in Boston, working in an organic garden, maintaining trails for the National Forest Service, and raising money for a local girl's shelter.
