Meet new Directors Jake and Kerry Labovitz, with their children Ellie and Tyler

Administrative Staff

Richard Herman, founder of Windsor Mountain, is formally retiring, so during the coming summer of 2010, we will welcome a lovely new family who will become owners of Windsor Mountain and are eager to lead our beloved camp into the future.

The new “unit” is the Labovitz family, Jake and Kerry, their adorable children, Ellie and Tyler, plus an additional member of the family, a labradoodle named Cody.

Jake’s dream of owning and directing an overnight summer camp dates back to his early years as a child at overnight camp in New Hampshire.  Jake, a native of central Massachusetts, has a great love for the camp experience and strongly believes in the role of camp in the growth and development of children.  A graduate of Lafayette College in Pennsylvania, Jake took the long road to Windsor Mountain when he graduated from Boston College Law School and became a lawyer.  He would not have had it any other way, as law school is where he met his wife, Kerry.  Kerry grew up in the Midwest, attended camp as a child and has always loved summer camp life.  They have lived in the Boston area for almost fifteen years.

Jake and Kerry love working with children and have served in the Big Brothers/Big Sisters programs, worked at Boys and Girls Clubs, ran an after-school program for middle school students, coached softball, served as mentors for students, and participated in a children’s literacy program.  In addition, they have been active in a successful minority charter school for lower income students in Roxbury.  After adopting their two children, Ellie and Tyler, as newborns in September 2008 and September 2009, Jake and Kerry knew the time was right to follow their dream.  As parents of two young children, they are keenly aware of the enormous responsibility bestowed upon them by camp parents and take the safety and well-being of every camper very seriously.  Jake and Kerry cannot wait to share great camp experiences with the entire Windsor Mountain community this summer and for years to come.

Danny and Deidre and Sarah are going to lead the summer forward, as we have for the past 4 summers.  Jake and Kerry are excited to soak up the Windsor Mountain spirit so they can steward the organization into the future.

To comply with Federal Law, we request that all individuals age 13 or younger ask their parents or guardians to contact us for them. To receive our catalog and detail sheets by mail CLICK HERE.

"I wanted to thank you and the whole staff of Windsor Mountain for watching over Acacia so well. I was very impressed by the feeling of community I felt on Visiting Day.  The connection of your family to the camp and the wonderful, warm energy you bring to your work was very apparent. Acacia sings the Hello Song all the time.  She is proud of how much sign language she learned." ...camp parent
