The Greening of
Windsor Mountain ~

by Richard Herman

Our camp is an active member of the Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests which is the organization largely responsible for the creation of the White Mountain National Forest.

In 2004 Windsor Mountain Camp proudly decided to donate a large tract of its land to be preserved forever through a conservation easement, meaning it will always remain wild for future generations to enjoy.

The conservation easement now in place and assures that the perimeter of our beautiful wilderness lake will remain pristine, virgin forest land.

This is the update on Windsor Mountain’s current effort to participate in our global effort to respect and protect Mother Earth.  Our Green Team will be busy this summer following up in smaller but equally important ways and we will keep you posted on our progress.

Let’s put on our collective thinking caps for the 2008 season, both for camp and travel programs.  Let us know your ideas for meaningful “greening” including programming ideas, projects and things you already know about, or things you may have learned recently at school.

Enjoy the winter months and we’ll see you very soon!
