TIM FLETCHER has decided to rejoin the Windsor Mountain community again this summer. We are thrilled to announce he will be the counselor who helps us spearhead the new LIT program. Tim joined us last year from England and was an instant hit with staff and campers alike. He’s an avid swimmer, sailor, and representative of the Great Britain Water Polo team, and we were concerned that he was slightly amphibious. However, his caring and warm nature soon dispelled all our fears. Tim has spent the winter in Argentina, and is as happy to return to camp as we are to have him!
RACHEL SINGER has buckled down for another Boston winter, this year as a PhD student in counseling psychology. She spends extraordinary amounts of time at school, looking up/writing/analylzing/and thinking about various things. When she's not in school mode, these days she can be found practicing guitar, hanging out with Kate Berge and Deidre, cooking all kinds of delicious things (though nowhere near Jackie's expertise in the kitchen) and daydreaming about Windsor Mountain.
ARIANA RATNER spent the fall semester studying abroad in a very chilly Paris where she studied film, fashion, French and art history and tried desperately to become a fluent French speaker. In her spare time she traveled visiting the south of France (Nice, Marseille, and St Tropez), Munich, Basel (Switzerland), Amsterdam, London (3 times!), and Berlin. It was crazy and hectic to travel so much but she loved it! She returned to the states for Christmas in Los Angeles and is now back at school in New York where she was accepted in the Experimental Theatre Wing transfer track advanced acting studio. She is missing her Dorm E girls like CRAZY, as well as all the wonderful campers and fellow counselors that she met this past summer!
KATIE BROOKOFF was also abroad this fall, studying in Rome. She took advantage of her surroundings and traveled around Italy as much as possible and when classes were over she continued her travels in Paris and Germany.
LIBBY SPANGLER remained at camp through the fall working with various school groups before jumping in her car with Grego Alex and Pia for a road trip down the east coast and west to New Orleans. Following the road trip she spent three weeks in England and is now back in Virginia working and figuring out her next plans.
SARAH (NEESA) YOUNG: In the fall Neesa was enjoyed the warm Tennessee weather (in the 60s and 70s most days). She was busy finishing her senior thesis, lifeguarding, and competing in mock trials. She is looking forward to another summer at camp this time as the new Dorm LUC!
ALINA ZAYCHIKOVA has been missing camp since she returned home to Russia. She enjoys the beautiful snow covered scenery from her window, but will be happy when the weather warms up. She is still studying at university and playing sports. She misses everyone and looks forward to spending another summer at camp this year!
BOMMANDA KUTTAPPA: After leaving camp Kutts back packed in Sri Lanka and then returned to India. He has worked on outbound school programs as an experiential educator, consulted with a couple of corporate companies regarding their outbound education programs, and kept busy on the weekends with climbing. Earlier this year he was eagerly awaiting the snowfall in the Himalayas to signal the start of the ski season. The round-the-world trip Kuttss had planned has been postponed allowing him to return to camp for another summer and he has some great new ideas for the tripping department! He has enjoyed catching up with long lost friends in India, but misses Windsor Mountain terribly and can’t wait to be back at camp!
CHRIS WATKINS has kept busy with school work and finished up a hectic but rewarding fall semester. He recently changed his major to French and Global studies and is finalizing plans to study abroad in France for the next academic year. He is quite excited!
ALEX NUSSBAUM moved to Park City, Utah at the end of October and began working/training at Deer Valley in early November. She has been working as the supervisor for the ski school program for 3-year-old skiers. When she isn’t working she is skiing as much as possible and keeping her fingers crossed for fresh snow. She hopes to get visitors all weekend long and missing camp everyday.
WIEBE LAMMERTINK is back and ready for 2008!! After his first year at Windsor Mountain, he wanted nothing but to go back!! Currently he is taking a year off before college and attending a German high school to continue on his basketball training and to try and help his German team - a youth professional team - get into the final four!! Through basketball he has received an offer to play 1st Division! He is also very excited to try new things, and is really looking forward to Jackie's cooking!!!!!!
PRANESH MANCHAIAH: In November, Pranesh went to Bhutan and worked with school principals and teachers on leadership programs. After a month in Bhutan, Pranesh's climbing activities took the front and he opened and bolted about 50-60 new routes. He contributed up to 300 bolts in this process, helping the climbing community to a large extent in India. Prani is so passionate about climbing that he spent his new year in Hampi, one of the most worshipped climbing place in the world. Pranesh was also recently featured along with his friends in a magazine in Bangalore about his climbing. Amidst his climbing Prani also makes time to work on programs for youth, and can’t wait to return to camp as the Ropes Course department head.
NORA KISS has been busy back home in Hungary studying at the College of Modern Business Studies and working with children. She is excited to return to Windsor Mountain for her second summer in 2008 and hope to continue improving her English. She has also been told by her friends that she makes everybody happy and thinks she may have been a clown in her previous life. If you don’t believe her you should just stop by the kitchen this summer and test her.
